Death: I Am the Light
Card: Death
Theme: Release, truth, irreversible transformation
Death is not an ending.
It is a reckoning.
In tarot, this card does not arrive to take life.
It arrives to strip away what is false,
what is finished,
what can no longer be carried forward.
This reflection is about what survives when everything else falls away.
Today, I was given the opportunity to honor a sacrifice I made long ago.
I didn’t expect this truth to arrive on the heels of death,
but I am learning that Death is the ultimate reality check.
There was a time when I thought often about killing myself.
I wondered what would be left in my absence.
All the judgments.
All the assumptions standing in place of my truth.
No longer free to write my own story.
No longer free to defend my temple from pillagers.
And today, I understood what stopped me.
I knew I had a story to tell.
I knew there was information and wisdom living in my heart that had to be shared.
The ache in my bones was never fatigue.
It was the weight of unused knowledge.
So I set out on a journey.
A journey to free myself from tyranny.
A journey home.
To heaven.
To freedom.
To me.
Spoiler alert:
I am the light at the end of the tunnel.
The Death card does not come to destroy.
It comes to unmask.
It shows you what cannot survive the truth
and what no longer fits your evolution.
This card is not about finality.
It is about the sacred fire that consumes illusion and ego,
leaving only the soul behind.
Death does not threaten you.
It whispers:
Let it go
so you can grow.
